Hello Sunshine

A design loving girl finding my way as an interior designer. Contact me at HayleyMannDesign@gmail.com

It would be a cool thing to do a series each week of different peoples bedside tables. You can probably learn a lot by what a person keeps at an arms reach all night long. I have to admit something, I don’t even have a bedside table at the moment so everything sits on the floor, and my hubby uses the bottom of a (very cute) vintage trash can. Pretty pathetic, I know. We still have a little wedding money left over at William Sonoma with is part of West Elm and they have a super cute  Mid Century Nightstand  that is just tiny enough to go in our very little bedside space.

Stumbled across a wonderful new interior designer, Lily Z Design. I fell in love with the little girl’s room she created with pink and yellow (2 of my favorite colors) in a tiny New York City apartment.

I love these rugs so much and would love to have one in our living room.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

I’ve stumbled across the perfect colorful stripped rugs! I’ve never seen any ones quite like this with so many options and at a fairly reasonable price. Check Morris Ect. out if your are in the market for an awesome rug.

The holiday issue of Rue Magazine is live! It is filled with fun gift ideas, an editorial in an incredible retro house and a peek into one of my favorite blogger’s, DesignLoveFest, LA loft. This video is a little behind the scenes of her photo shoot. Don’t you just love the song choice?!

I sure am feeling the holiday spirit this time of year. This is the first year Dougie and I have our very own tree and and are decorating our house all Christmasy. We went out and bought our tree and garland last night.  With a grand total of 8 ornaments (we have a whole collection of colorful vintage bulbs that have disappeared into my parents storage) our tree was looking a little pathetic. I decided it needed a little wrapped ribbon job inspired by a photo from my favorite magazine, Lonny. So I rumbled through my craft drawer and came out with the yellow and white stripped ribbon used on our wedding welcome baskets. Throw a vintage angel on top and I must say it looks pretty cute, not perfect, but just how a first tree should look. I’ll have to share photos with you once I get them off my camera. Happy Monday!

I have found my perfect Christmas stocking! I so badly want these little nubby wool knit stocking with pom poms and all. Dougie and I don’t have our own official stockings as the beginning to our own little family. Of course we have our childhood stocking that Santa has been filing since 1983 and 1986, but those will always remain at our parents homes. The purchasing of stockings for oneself is somewhat of an announcement that we are all grown up. Although Mom and Dad if you are reading this, remember we made a deal that we still get stocking filled by Santa until we have our own kiddos. So I guess what I’m saying is, I won’t truly officially feel grown up until I fill the stockings of my own babies. All this fuss about stockings and I just can’t seem to pay $58 dollars for these beauties at this point in life, maybe next year I’ll grow up.

However I am tempted to buy these little stripped felt guys for only $15. Not our forever stocking with their impractical narrow build, but so cute to hang up in our cozy little home.

J.CREW has some cute knit stockings as well.

Better yet I should just learn how to knit!

It’s Thanksgiving Eve and I am getting very excited for the big day of feasting. I’ll be spending the day across the bay at my parents house with our entire extended family (it’s not too hard to get us all in town when there is only 12 of us total!). Thanksgiving sure is a cozy holiday and I can’t wait for us all to be cooking, sitting and chatting together with the fire place roaring and the parade on TV. Hope you all have a great Holiday!
P.S. I’ll be making this sweet potato casserole. Yum!
